Welcome to Wikiworldview - a site for rational thinkers

Many Internet sites, blogs and wikis, as well as much dialogue in papers, radio and television, and conferences and meetings, spend their time discussing and defending their particular point of view in the face of opposition - real or imagined. Outspoken advocates like Richard Dawkins or Sam Harris are attacking religion for what they see as a clear danger for the future of mankind. Whilst others are interested in trying to establish an unshakable demarcation between Religion and the State and thus reinstate a fair democracy.

But, as far as I am aware, no one is making any attempt to find an alternative to religion that will meet the needs of the people. Needs that have been successfully met by various religions throughout history.

It is my belief that there is a clear need for a belief system which addresses all the areas that religions address, but one that does not involve belief in any supernatural superstitions.

This wiki is here in an attempt to identify ideas on a 'Worldview' that can develop into a belief system which does not involve a deity of any kind. That 'Worldview' must keep all the unprovable nonsense out of it and end up with a meaningful, workable philosophy for life. Scientific principles need to apply, but that does not mean being confined exclusively to scientific disciplines.

Let's have ideas, therefore, that will develop this wiki into a source for a 'Worldview' of life, morality and everything; a source of support and care, of love and respect, where all people are equal. A wiki that identifies and encourages a positive, contributory and fulfilling life.

Perhaps we could start with suggestions for the 'ten commandments' (see: Community portal) - except there wouldn't be just ten, and they shouldn't be commandments. Hopefully, it can evolve into a belief system that people can follow, instead of religious 'faith', and maybe use its guiding principles at non-religious funerals and weddings and so on. (Obviously, we need a new name for "Ten Commandments", perhaps "Moral Principles" or whatever contributors suggest.)
